This drill uses the double bow roll to teach you the feeling of keeping the bow arm position for longer after you release the arrow. This will improve your follow through.
Key Points
1. Shoot as normal. When you release, keep your bow arm position and allow the bow to roll twice.
2. Maintain your body position and the rest of your shot as a “pause” while your bow is doing the double roll during the drill.
3. You can see this demonstrated properly in the figure above.
Notes:
Try doing alternate ends with this drill and with normal shooting. You can also try scoring a whole round or training session whilst doing this drill.
You can learn about how the follow through fits into the recurve shot on our page: The Recurve Shot Cycle.
