Archery Drills - Full Draw Holds

Full draw holds are one of the most simple and most effective ways of increasing your archery specific strength. When you do these, you must keep proper technique and make sure you reach your real full draw position.

To read more about how to do this, see the Full Draw section.

Key Points

1. Do your normal shot process and come to full draw. Make sure you reach your real full draw position.

2. Hold this position for 15 seconds. Rest for the same amount of time as you hold. This is 1 rep.

3. Repeat. Work towards being able to do 20-30 reps of 30seconds holding and 30seconds resting.

Notes:

Start easy with these full draw holds. Try holding for an amount of time that is hard by the time you get to 15-20 reps. However, you want to make sure you maintain your proper technique and don’t cause injury.

Slowly increase the amount of reps you do and/or the amount of time you hold at full draw.
