If you narrow your archery stance, it will challenge your upper body stability more. This drill does just that. It can be a challenging drill but it’s very useful to demonstrate the need to activate your core when you shoot. If you are leaning towards or away from the target this drill will be very hard, so it encourages good posture. Technique is crucial to good posture, read more about the technical side of the recurve stance in our Recurve Archery Technique – Stance & Posture section.
Exercises are also an important part of learning correct body position, see our Recurve Archery Exercises section for ideas on what you can do in the gym to improve your archery.
